Full job description Oversee, manage, and direct the day-to-day operation of the pesticide product registration and applicator recertification program for the Department of Pesticide Regulation. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES: 30% - Essential - Direct and coordinate the statewide pesticide product registration program for over 16,000 pesticide products annually. Direct, develop, and implement standard operating procedures for the pesticide product registration program. Advise the Assistant Director on pesticide product registration needs, activities, and accomplishments.


30% - Essential - Manage and direct all aspects of the recertification program for private, commercial and non commercial applicators. Review all applicator training programs submitted for recertification credit. Make changes to programs as new regulations and policies are put in to effect. Continue to develop and coordinate changes to the system in place to evaluate recertification courses for their applicability to different categories including the core and category specific areas. Coordinate with IT personnel and Assistant Director for C&T to develop tracking databases for applicator and recertification hours.


20% - Essential - Implement processes for both routine and special registrations such as Section 24C (special local needs), Section 18 (emergency exemptions), experimental use permits, 25B minimum risk state registered products, and termiticide registrations. Evaluate labels to ensure compliance with federal and state registration requirements. Request and evaluate efficacy data to determine product registration. Interpret state and federal product registrations laws and regulations for staff, consumers, and industry.


10% - Essential - Provides annual notices of re-registration to over 1600 manufacturers to ensure compliance with state regulations. Evaluates fees from manufacturers and verifies accuracy of amounts. Prepares deposits for both checks received and electronic payments. Maintains a balanced account of all deposits. Complete monthly reconciliation for all fees received. Provides advice and direction to computer programmer for upgrades to the registration database system.


10% - Essential - Coordinate and implement product registration activities of shared interest with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, South Carolina Department of Agriculture, South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and other Clemson University Departments. Participate in national and state pesticide regulatory associations and meetings. Serve on national and state product registration work groups and committees.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Experience in pesticides in environmental or agricultural field.

Education - Bachelor's Degree - A bachelor's degree and relevant program experience.

Work Exp 4+ years experience with pesticides in environmental or agricultural field.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Education - Master's Degree - Agriculture or a physical science.

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
