The Work The Project Accountant II is a vital part of E3's project accounting team, responsible for contract setup, revenue recognition, billing, and supporting assigned project managers. The ideal candidate should have expertise in project accounting and revenue recognition for consulting businesses, with a positive, team-oriented attitude. Experience with Deltek Costpoint ERP or similar project accounting systems is preferred. This role requires strong analytical and organizational skills, the ability to multitask and prioritize, and the capacity to work independently. A collaborative team player, the Project Accountant will work closely with leadership and staff to ensure smooth operation of the accounting system. Work Environment Hybrid and flexible work environment that adapts to changing needs of projects and safety requirements. E3 thrives in a strong collaborative office-based working environment but has also adapted to the safety requirements of our employees. This position will require in office presence 2-3 times a week. Must be able to work for extended hours in front of a computer screen and conduct meetings on the telephone and virtually.
\n Responsibilities Setting up new projects in compliance with revenue recognition standards and contract language Ensuring timely and accurate recording of time and expenses to jobs, including subcontractor invoices Performing month-end expense accruals for incurred costs Ensuring accurate matching of purchase orders and subcontracts to subsequent invoices Ensuring timely and accurate billing to customers and assisting in collection efforts Reviewing revenue calculations and ensuring timely submission to corporate accounting Preparing monthly reports on project performance and reconciling variances Performing expense allocation verification, accruals, and journal entries Ensuring the internal process is compliant with SOX controls Assisting with special projects, training of Junior staff, and other work as requested Requirements Minimum of 3 years of professional accounting experience and BA/BS degree in Accounting-related field or Accounting Certification Experience managing deadlines and multiple collaborators in a fast-paced environment A proven team player with strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills Strong communication and critical thinking skills Keen attention to detail High proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) Discretion in handling sensitive/confidential business information Things that Set You Apart Experience in project accounting is highly desired Previous experience with Deltek Costpoint or other project (cost) accounting system GAAP and SOX experience
