Position Summary
The Project Accountant (PA) position with RBA Builder's Inc. serves an essential function in construction operations with responsibility for all aspects of job cost accounting including compliance with company policies and procedures as well as financial reporting requirements under US CAAP/IFRS.
The RBA Project Accountant is an integral support to the project management team with an efficient and accurate reporting of project profits, subcontractor payments, client billings, pending change orders, past due accounts receivable and timely recognition and resolution of various issues within multiple projects throughout Southern California.
Essential Job Functions:
- Has a thorough knowledge and can efficiently use ERP systems used by the Company.
- Understands basic terminology of accounting and its application within the construction industry including but not limited to payables, receivables, and applications for payment.
- Reviews bid and/or project documents such as budgets prior to entry into accounting system.
- Ensures that all jobs are properly set up in ERP system prior to any work being conducted on site.
- Ensures that invoices are entered and scheduled for payment in a timely manner.
- Ensures the Monthly Financial Reviews are scheduled each month.
- Identifies cost reports and understands how costs are tracked against budgets
- Understands internal controls in making payments, including signed authorizations (subcontract agreements, SCOs, material contracts), authorization for payment (invoices, owner payment receipts, sworn statements, sub bonds and insurance in place) and release of payment (conditional an unconditional releases, second-tier subcontractor, and material releases).
- Understands the importance of maintaining cash flow through accurate tracking of associated project expenses and timely payment and invoicing with regard to project associated credits/debits.
- Understands and supports the job close-out process.
- Understands project job cost control systems and proper cost coding.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred or extensive experience commensurate in lieu of degree.
Construction experience required.
Spectrum/Viewpoint experience preferred.
Basic Accounting Processes knowledge (AR/AP/GL) required.
1-3 years Project Accountant experience preferred.
