Full Position Description
McKissack & McKissack, an outgrowth of the oldest African American-owned architecture engineering in the country, has a strong reputation for consistently delivering results on high-profile projects for government and private sector clients.

ROLE (High level):
As a Project Accountant, you'll be responsible for managing accounting and financial functions related to assigned projects. You'll support the project team by handling contract modifications, compliance, invoicing, payments, and reporting— all while effectively communicating financial matters within the organization.
Your ROLE (Logistics):
Reporting To: Project Accounting Manager
Where You Work: Onsite (Washington D.C.)
Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000
Your Role (Responsibilities):
Contract Compliance: Review contract documents and pricing to ensure adherence to guidelines.
ERP Setup: Set up contracts in the ERP system, meticulously entering accurate and complete data.
Invoice Management: Handle invoices, payments, and compliance for your assigned projects.
Billing Reports: Generate billing reports and collaborate with project managers to align billing activities.
Resource Coordination: Ensure all necessary supporting documents (e.g., travel expenses, sub expenses, expense reports) are ready before billing.
Project Manager Collaboration: Review project manager requests for billing, assessing appropriateness based on current activity levels and costs.
Invoice Compliance: Scrutinize invoices for adherence to contract terms, guidelines, and regulations. Resolve any issues.
Final Invoices: Prepare comprehensive invoice packages for submission to government and commercial customers (various contract types: CPFP, FFP, and T&M).
Financial Processes: Handle project labor and expense transfers as needed.
Accounts Receivable: Monitor aged AR client balances and actively pursue collections when necessary.
Revenue Recognition: Understand revenue recognition methods and assist with revenue analysis.
Project Financial Performance: Keep a close eye on financial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Budget and Performance Analysis: Collaborate with project managers to establish budgets, schedules, and analyze project performance against budget.
Reporting: Assist in preparing reports for monthly and annual financial review meetings.
Revenue Analysis: Regularly review backlog information and analyze actual versus projected revenue.
Other Duties: As assigned or needed—flexibility is key!
What We NEED You to Have:
Experience: Minimum 3 years working as a project accountant or in project control.
Analytical: Strong problem-solving skills.
Excel Wizardry: Advanced proficiency in Excel.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Multitasking: Ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively.
Presentation Skills: Great reporting and presentation abilities.
Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
What We WANT You to Have:
Industry: Experience in the construction or professional services industry is preferred.
Software: Familiarity with Deltek VantagePoint is a plus.
