An Architectural Project Architect 2 with 6 to 10 years of mixed-use residential experience is a skilled professional who has gained significant knowledge and expertise in the field of architecture and has attained licensure.
This level of PA may work on projects of varying sizes, ranging from simple to complex, and involving a variety of construction types and occupancies. An Intermediate PA may lead a small to medium size team and coordinate the work effort with the consultant team. The Intermediate PA may also be capable of working on a project, depending on size, without additional team members, completing all tasks, working along with the PM or capable of being both the PA and PM on a project. This PA should have a strong understanding of codes, the ability to detail projects, take the project through plan check and permitting as well as the Construction Administration process, and be a strong mentor of the Junior talent.
Qualities:Architectural Competence: Project Architects 2 should possess a strong foundation in construction techniques, understanding of building systems, materials, and technologies, and be able to apply this knowledge to their projects.Technical Aptitude: Project Architects 2 should have a good grasp of technical aspects related to architecture, knowledgeable about building codes, regulations, and documentation flow from schematic design to construction documents, and familiar with various software tools used for architectural documentation.Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication and collaboration skills are essential for Project Architects 2. They should communicate their ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and be skilled at collaborating with project teams, clients, and consultants.Problem-Solving Abilities: Project Architects 2 should be adept at problem-solving and critical thinking, able to analyze complex issues, identify potential challenges, and propose practical solutions with a proactive and resourceful approach.Time Management and Organization: Project Architects 2 should manage their time effectively, prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines, and possess strong organizational skills while being detail-oriented in managing project documentation, deliverables, and schedules.Responsibilities:Project Design and Development: Project Architects 2 contribute to the design development of architectural projects, participate in technical design discussions, and propose technical design solutions that maintain the design intent of the project.Construction Document Preparation: Project Architects 2 assist in the preparation of construction documents, including detailed drawings, specifications, and schedules, ensuring accuracy, coordination, and compliance with building codes and regulations.Project Coordination: Project Architects 2 participate in project coordination activities, collaborating with engineers, consultants, and contractors to integrate their design solutions with other project components, assisting in coordinating project deliverables and resolving coordination issues during design and construction phases.Client Interaction and Communication: Project Architects 2 may participate in client meetings and discussions, contributing to understanding client needs, presenting technical design concepts, and providing progress updates while assisting in managing client expectations.Quality Control: Project Architects 2 play a role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of project deliverables, reviewing design drawings and documentation to identify errors or inconsistencies, and conducting quality inspections during construction.Construction Administration Support: Project Architects 2 may assist in construction administration tasks, responding to requests for information (RFIs), reviewing and approving shop drawings, and conducting site visits to monitor construction progress and address design-related issues.Continued Learning and Professional Development: Project Architects 2 actively pursue continued learning and professional development opportunities, staying updated with industry trends, attending relevant seminars or workshops, and seeking opportunities to expand their knowledge and skills in the field of architecture.
