Project Cost Analyst

Position Overview Olson Engineering, a full-service, multi-discipline engineering company providing services to the petrochemical market, is seeking a hands-on experienced project controls specialist with proficiency in project budgeting and forecasting, earned value management (EVMS) including cost performance index (CPI), schedule performance index (SPI), cost variance (CV) and schedule variance (SV) analysis calculations. Candidates should have a minimum of 5-10+ years of experience in engineering, procurement and construction leading the cost control function for a major project.

Responsibilities and Duties Project Cost Analyst is expected to:

Develop project cost forecasts for portfolio of projects based on project schedule and project progress data. Support in developing and maintaining of the project status reports and performance metrics. Coordinate and work with the project engineers, construction managers, and project managers to resolve project cost related issues on their project. Participate and assist in the project change management and trend process. Interface with Accounting and other Departments to ensure timely processing of project cost in SAP. Support project superintendent with implementation of best practice project controls processes and procedures. Support with project administration – project creation, purchase order creation and closures in SAP. Education/Knowledge Education:

High School diploma or equivalent. Associate degree, or Bachelor of Science, preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field. Minimum of 5 – 10+ years direct experience in engineering, procurement, and construction leading the cost control function for a major project. Certified Cost Consultant (CCC) or Certified Cost Engineer (CCE), is desirable but not required. PMI or AACEI member is desirable but not required. Skills Demonstrated ability to understand a demanding, technical, and complicated project execution program; and the ability to communicate issues to a technical and management level audience. Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and communication skills. Proficient in project budgeting and forecasting processes and procedures. Proficient in earned value management system (EVMS), including cost performance index (CPI), schedule performance index (SPI), cost variance (CV), and schedule variance (SV) analysis calculations. Fast learner, self-motivated, and problem-solving team player with strong work ethic. Demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced environment while following processes and procedures. Proficient in SAP Project System module, and Plant maintenance Module a plus. Must demonstrate Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Proficient in Power BI a plus.
