Project Engineer Full Salary Range: $85,346.62 - $133,354.10

Project Engineer II Hiring Range: $91,320.89 - $114,151.11

Project Engineer II Full Salary Range: $91,320.89 - 142,688.89

Senior Engineer Hiring Range: $98,187.8 4- $122,734.80

Project Engineer II Full Salary Range: $98,187.84 - $153,418.50

Aurora Water Department
Aurora Water is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage systems, treatment of drinking water and non-potable reclaimed wastewater for irrigation, billing and collection, public outreach and water conservation, acquisition and development of future water rights, major capital projects programs, and quality control for regulatory compliance and public health.


THE POSITION
The Aurora Water - Planning and Engineering division is recruiting a Project Manager within the Project Delivery Services (PDS) team.
The PDS team is responsible for execution of the Capital Improvement Program for the Water Department.
The annual CIP budget for the department is over $250,000,000.00.
For purposes of this recruitment, the terms project engineer and project manager are used interchangeably.


The Aurora Water - Planning and Engineering Division offers an exciting, challenging, fun, and impactful work environment within a strong team culture of collaboration, innovation, and team support.


Project Managers are responsible for the procurement and management of consultants/contractors for the delivery of capital improvement projects.
A successful candidate for this position could be brought on as either an Project Engineer I, Project Engineer II or Senior Engineer depending on the candidate's skills and experience.


PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Procure design consultants and contractors to deliver capital improvement projects as assigned.
Manage and negotiate project scope, fee and schedule for assigned projects Effectively communicate project status updates to all appropriate stakeholders including budget and schedule impacts as appropriate Apply engineering knowledge and understanding to assigned tasks Read, review and understand construction drawings, specifications and engineering reports in conformance with City standards and City codes Effective written and oral communication Support the values and mission of Aurora Water, support initiatives from upper management MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Architecture, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering (or similar related field).


Experience Certifications and Licenses:

Project Engineer: Minimum 4 years of experience .
PE (or equivalent) registration in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
Driver's license with a good driving history Project Engineer II: Minimum 6 years of experience or 3 years professional-level engineering experience with a water utility PE (or equivalent) registration in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
Driver's license with a good driving history Senior Engineer: Minimum 8 years progressively responsible engineering experience including one year of leadership or managerial experience PE (or equivalent) registration in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
Project Management Profession (PMP) certification preferred Driver's license with a good driving history Knowledge:

Knowledge of Engineering principles, practices, theories, and techniques related to infrastructure planning and project management along with an understanding of the principles, practices, financial management and operating requirements of a water utility

Abilities:

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and citizens; handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and fulfill goals and objectives; plan and schedule work unit operations; be a creative thinker who is driven by opportunities to continually improve; handle multiple projects simultaneously and use good judgment in prioritizing work assignments; independently represent the department in multiple internal and external settings; behaves and makes decisions consistent with City of Aurora values and Water vision and mission.

Physical Demands: Primarily sedentary physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 10 pounds Occasional lifting, carrying, walking and standing Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate office equipment Vision for reading, recording and interpreting information Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens Work Environment: Works primarily in clean, comfortable environment; in an office Field visits may be required.
Equipment Used: Uses standard office equipment including copy machines, printers/plotters, personal computer, mobile devices, and common office software such as email, internet, Windows-based applications, and GIS applications This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g.
vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.)
in the course of their employment.
