Reporting to a Design Engineering Manager, the AS Design Engineer tranlates design intent into reality. The incumbent creates complex and detailed 3D models, production files and fabrication documents from those models. They will also handle assembly, fabrication support, coordination and product database oversight.

What you'll do Utilizes CAD to develop models, CNC programs and simulations to help fabricate and validate designs using Solidworks, Rhino and other software packages. Collaborates with various disciplines including but not limited to architects, designers, sales and marketing teams, programmers, fabricators, and assemblers, to ensure proper communication and understanding of design intents. Understands and applies real world manufacturing capabilities to part designs to balance "form vs function". Utilizes rapid prototyping and other fabrication means to mockup designs and test efficacy. Creates and maintains fabrication documentation, files, BOMs and CPQ rulesets. Develops fixtures and other manufacturing aids. Utilizes automation routines to expedite workflow and minimize human error. Quickly iterates through component/detail designs with input from team members and clients. Provides assembly and fabrication support for key mockups.
What will make you successful Strong graphic and layout design expertise. Capable to perform hand sketching and comfortable working with your hands. Exceptional ability to focus on details but also able to see the big picture. Strong mechanical aptitude. Self-manage time effectively to accomplish all tasks within an appropriate time frame. Proficient in MS Office (emphasis on MS Excel & Word), Solidworks, Proficient written and oral communication skills; bilingual is a plus. Works well in small groups. Strong critical thinking/ creative problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and manage project timelines. Initiative-taker with a strong ability to multi-task and juggle multiple responsibilities. Superior organizational skills. Strong analytical skills. Familiarity with the construction business, estimating, reading blueprints and an understanding of the bidding process desired. Project Management skillset a plus. Bachelor's degree in design or similar specialty, engineering, or computer science OR 3 - 5 years of equivalent work experience.

Office Environment – This position operates in a professional office environment and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. No PPE is required. Plant Environment – This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools, and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Required PPE includes hard hat (when required), safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, and fall protection.
