Job Purpose
Progress Rail Services Corporation, a Caterpillar Company, and a leading provider of services to the Railroad industry in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil, seeks a Senior Project Manager at our facility in Independence, MO.
This role is responsible for various engineering, maintenance, and installation projects and will focus on both customer requirements and needs and contribute to internal product development.
The role will require engagement with both customer and leveraging internal team to accomplish business goals and objectives.
This position also must work with all customers across North America and the world.
This position will work with leadership, product management, and the Q&P team to develop and manage all general quotes and proposals, including long-term purchase agreements and international projects.

Key Job Elements
•Create project management plans, including project schedule;
•Maintain project schedule and communicate updates/impacts;
•Provide project communication / status reports to PR stakeholders;
•Provide formal project communication / status reports to external customers/stakeholders;
•Utilize NPI when needed and manage PM-responsible NPI activities;
•Coordinate review of customer contracts and related deliverables;
•Review sub-contracts, licensing agreements tied to contracts;
•Coordinate project scoping meetings;
•Provide update to Production and Product Manager regarding potential project-related production order impacts;
•Hold project meetings, maintaining project action log and risk register;
•Facilitate creation of mitigation plans for project-related material shortages, quality problems, certification, etc.

•Manage execution of customer requested changes;
•Coordinate all applicable legal and compliance approvals for customer visits / training related to Government Officials for the project;
•Coordinate all customer visits required for project activities;
•Coordinate execution of acceptance activities.
Qualifications and Experience
•A current Project Management Professional (PMP) certification;
•10+ years of experience working in project management, to include:
o Planning and estimating,
o Scope, schedule, cost, and risk management,
o Driving projects through to completion;
•5+ years of managing projects that include product hardware, firmware and software development, as well as system integration;
•Recent experience working directly with Product Management and Systems Engineering;
•Strong experience using JIRA tools for planning and executing the entire project lifecycle such as project initiation, Scrum & sprint planning, resource planning.
•Critical thinking and problem-solving skills; courage to make challenging decisions; understanding of production process and SOP's;
•Demonstrated strong Leadership Skills;
•Coach and develop other Project Managers on Project Management Tools and Processes
•Strong communication skills, both written and oral;
•Demonstrated strong attention to details and technicalities;
•Ability to work together in a team environment; ability to manage a diverse workforce;
•Demonstrated understanding of scheduling and manpower planning;
•Strong proficiency with Excel and other MS Office tools;
•Ability to travel as required.
