We are seeking an applicant with experience and interest in pursuing a career in fine art conservation and museum-quality custom framing. The position would work alongside the principal of our company to facilitate new and ongoing projects. No project is ever the same, and each scope of work is customized according to the needs of the piece and the clients. With the variety of projects and clients that we work with, no day is ever the same. The ideal candidate will enjoy learning the history of the works in our care, with a keen eye on how to best frame to both display and protect the works once they leave. Attention to detail and following through on deadlines are top priorities. This position involves client communication, teamwork, administration assistance, and handling artwork. Responsibilities: -Assist with phone and email inquiries -Assist with customer relationships, and work with clients to facilitate incoming and ongoing projects -Design a variety of custom frames both in-person and through virtual consultation -Prepare and send condition reports, treatment proposals, invoices, work orders, and post-treatment documentation -Maintain project inventories, documentation, and customer files -Assist the art handling team with onsite inventories, packing and return delivery, and installations -Ensure safe handling and storage of incoming artifacts and artwork -Monitor and maintain storage spaces according to best practices -Collaboratively work with colleagues to facilitate the successful completion of specialty projects Requirements: -Bachelor's degree (BA or BFA) -Minimum of 2 years of experience in the fine art industry - Picture framing experience/knowledge -A valid driver's license with a clean driving record -Pass a background check -Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Desired Skills and Abilities: -Creative thinking and solutions-based problem-solving abilities -Ability to work independently and collaboratively with supervisors, team members, and contractors. -Ability to work with and communicate with clients -Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills -Possess knowledge and interest in fine art and antiques and their care -Good hand skills and knowledge of proper art handling -Experience with QuickBooks, Photoshop, and CRM platforms are a plus -Enjoys working with clients and takes pride in the successful completion of specialty projects -Goal-oriented and willing to learn About us: Artifact assists clients with a full suite of services for the preservation, conservation, and display of fine art, antiques, and fine furniture. We work with a variety of clientele including, private collectors, museums, restoration companies, insurance carriers, corporations, and interior designers. From single projects to large collections, our team can manage projects door to door, depending on the immediate and long-term needs of our client. The position includes work at our studio in Chicago and Schiller Park facility, as well as onsite work in high-end residents, museums, and commercial spaces. Artifact is a branch of the Artmill Group, which is the most comprehensive art services firm in Chicago. The Artmill Group works with all facets of the art and design industry to provide custom framing & mirrors, conservation of fine art, objects and furniture, art handling, and installation, corporate and health environment art sourcing, as well as fine art printing and mounting. Our firm has a team-oriented environment, with a focus on providing unparalleled craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. This is a full-time position (40 hrs), occasional Saturdays are included.
