Artist, Prosthetic Lab I
JOB SUMMARY:
Advanced knowledge to include but not limited to of all materials and tools, casting, sculpting, creating and repair fiberglass molds and pieces, working with silicone, pigmentation/ painting of silicone. Advanced mold making skill set to create 3 piece prosthetic, fiberglass, matrix and mothermold or more molds. Knowledge and skills of flocking measuring, Vacuform, 3D priming, adding powder pigments to achieve skin tones and color, understanding of color theory, including color matching faux finishes, able to create texture levels, advanced automotive spray and airbrushing techniques. Molding corrective positives, creating Pros-aid transfers and encapsulated Silicone Prosthetics. Fit, Fabricate, troubleshoot, sculpt and mold dental appliances and repair flexacryl. As a Expert you are able to oversee and Trouble shoot Foam runs
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create, repair and Fabricate Prosthetics and masks needs to include planning/preparing for work, working daily with fiberglass, epoxy, silicone, latex and foam, cleaning, molding, casting, construction, finishing/painting, cleaning of work area, and documenting work. Sculpting and project and management meetings. Managing inventory and timelines, trouble shoot build and fabrication concerns. Maintain, fabricate, and install/embed fasteners and attachments for figures, sets, and props needed for Marquee events.
Repair and Fabricate Operational venue need to include planning/preparing for work, cleaning, molding, casting, construction, finishing/painting, cleaning of work area, and documenting work.
Work closely with the Management and Design team to maintain appropriate looks. Monitor inventory for wear and tear and ask for replacements as needed. Maintain equipment, supplies and cleanliness of workstation and area.
Sitting and standing for long periods of times. Continuous and repetitive use of hands, fingers and wrist for fine gripping, twisting, lifting and forceful gripping when involved with foam, molding, clay, finishing needs and additional paraproducts.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
High school degree or GED required
EXPERIENCE:
6+ years' experience with mask making, finishing and lab or equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Prosthetic II level skills and any props or costume fabrication experience helpful.
Advanced knowledge of machine sewing, pattern making for creating stencils and tattoo, wig/fur adhesives, scenic knowledge to dress and create looks for stage applications, shop carpentry, Expertise of Lab I level, Prosthetic I & II and Make- up, Working with other materials needed to enhance theatrical design and create advanced cosmetic effects as well as pieces that management deem appropriate to the skill level.
Artist, Prosthetics Lab II
JOB SUMMARY:
Install fasteners and attachments for props, mask, and hands. This can include basic hand sewing, buckles, straps, zippers, snaps, stand-offs, tabs, and various inserts. Knowledge of pouring and pulling latex, painting latex masks/Chest/hands/feet. Working with contact cement, silicone, latex adhesives and brushing silicone. Creating, pulling, painting and usage of foam latex. Sealing hair and items to latex masks. Attaching wigs/fur/feather. Running and mixing urethane and poly foams. Creating small 1-2-piece box molds, roto casting, and dwelling molds. Creation of bald caps and Mask tech role for Marquee events.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Running and maintaining production of operation prosthetics and masks, Operation venue character needs. Adding additional pieces and finishing's to mask including straps, hair and paint.
Marquee event Operation support.
