Job Summary This position provides professional psychiatric services, including assessment, consultation, medication management, and referrals to CSULB students. The incumbent enthusiastically supports the University's strong commitment to the academic success of all our students, including students of color, students with disabilities, first-generation students, veterans, and others. Key Responsibilities Provide psychiatric assessment and medication management to students: Provide medication consultation and intervention as needed.Provide consultation to CAPS and Student Health Services clinicians: Provide consultation to CAPS staff, campus SHS providers, CSU faculty/staff, as well as the public, both in-person and on the telephone.Provide psychiatric consultation for the wider campus community.Knowledge Skills and Abilities Demonstrated ability to provide psychiatric services (clinical assessment, medication evaluation, crisis intervention, and psychiatric hospitalization). Prior experience in providing psychiatric services to young adults. Demonstrated effective and safe medication management knowledge and protocols. Interest in cooperative meetings and team activities, contributing to overall quality of Student Affairs. Provide quality evidence-based care to CAPS clients and SHS patients. Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to be professional and respectful. Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues and coordinate with others. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Ability to work effectively and productively as part of a team. Ability to collaborate in a multi-discipline mental health environment. Oral communication skills to communicate diplomatically and effectively with students, departmental staff, and CSU faculty/staff. Basic computer knowledge and skills. Ability to follow Work Protocols and Safe Work Practices.
Education and Experience Graduation from a medical school and completion of one or more residency programs and/or fellowships accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or equivalent in a specialty appropriate to the assigned specialty duties.Physical Summary Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.
Licenses / Certificates Valid and relevant State of California license to practice medicine.Current medical board certification appropriate for the assigned duties.Valid DEA certificate and number for prescribing controlled substances.Current CPR/AED certification required.Current and valid Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry before commencement of the position.CA Driver's License preferred.Department Student Health Services
Classification Physician – Specialty Services
Compensation This appointment is for an 11/12 pay-plan position. The incumbent works 11 months per year and is paid over 12 months. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
CSU Classification Salary Range: The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $12,588 - $24,499 per month. Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.
Time Base 1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment This is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
