About the Role The per diem psychiatrist will be responsible for providing psychiatric services, assessments and consultation in our Passage of Hope Program to support Unaccompanied Migrant Children in our Basic Shelter, Transitional Foster Home, and Long-Term Foster Care programs.
ResponsibilitiesProvide high quality psychiatric services to individuals supported within the programs listed above, following current best practice guidelines for care.See individuals at least monthly for medication management. Ensure that all medications are reviewed and renewed as necessary, considering both the efficacy of the medication and the well-being and risks of polypharmacy to the individual.Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations with recommendations and complete written reports within 2 business days of evaluation.Ensure proper consents are in place for all prescribed medications.Participate in interdisciplinary clinical team meetings as well as staffing with our governmental oversight to ensure comprehensive patient care plan.Provide crisis intervention as necessary.Participate in the intake process, which includes reviewing referral packets within 24 hours and participating in Skype interviews as needed.Must have flexible work hours and be available outside of regular business hours and on-call as needed.QualificationsA Medical degree with a license to practice in the State of New York.A current DEA registration for the prescribing of controlled substances.New York Ordering/Prescribing/Referring/Attending status to prescribe to Medicaid population.An active Health Commerce Account to execute New York State I-STOP law.Board Certification or plan for certification with specialization in Child/Adolescent population.Bilingual Spanish required.Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and experience with operating an Electronic Health Record and E-prescribing.Able to encourage a positive attitude toward individuals' unique capabilities and limitations.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities required of the employee for this job.
