Key ResponsibilitiesProvide psychiatric assessment and medication management to students, including initial intake evaluations and follow-ups for students referred to psychiatry.Formulate appropriate ICD diagnoses, treatment plans, and dispositions, and provide medication consultation and intervention as needed.Consult with CAPS staff, campus SHS providers, CSU faculty/staff, and the public, both in-person and on the telephone.Provide psychiatric consultation for the campus community.Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated ability to provide psychiatric services, including clinical assessment, medication evaluation, crisis intervention, and psychiatric hospitalization. Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor are essential, along with excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team and maintain positive working relationships. Skills to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community are required.
Education and ExperienceGraduation from a medical school and completion of one or more residency programs and/or fellowships accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or equivalent in a specialty appropriate to their assigned duties.
Licenses / CertificatesValid and relevant State of California license to practice medicine; current medical board certification appropriate for the assigned duties; valid DEA certificate and number for prescribing controlled substances; and current CPR/AED certification required.
Current and valid Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry before commencement of the position.
CompensationThe salary range for this classification is $83.19 to $161.90 per hour.
Time BaseHourly/intermittent on call temporary position. Successful candidates may be appointed for a few days and up to one (1) year depending on the assignment. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
