DescriptionClinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor | Psychiatrist, Child Study and Treatment Center (CSTC) - Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Attending Child Psychiatrist at the Child Study and Treatment Center (CSTC).
We are looking for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor. Clinical faculty hold annual appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research/scholarship, and service.
Job Summary The CSTC is the only public state hospital for children and adolescents in Washington State. The treatment model is long-term inpatient, with lengths of stay approximately 9 to 12 months. CSTC serves youth ages 7 to 17 years, with histories that typically include disruptive behavioral disorders, mood and trauma-related syndromes, autism spectrum and developmental disorders, and complicated psychosocial histories. These youth are often served by multiple different public programs/agencies, including child welfare, developmental disabilities, special education, and/or juvenile justice.
Job Duties Clinically and administratively, the position reports to the medical director of the CSTC for CSTC specific duties. Academically and for UW/Children's administration, the position reports to the director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Participation in CSTC medical staff activities, including team consultations, quality improvement projects, cross coverage for other units, and on-call coverage (at CSTC).
Compliance with relevant CMS, Joint Commission, and HIPAA standards.
Research:Participating in design and review of CSTC quality assurance activities, patient outcomes, and systems of care.Service:Responsibilities include clinical services including evidence-based psychopharmacology; individual, group, and family therapies; community consultation and case management; team leadership and collaboration with other treatment team members, including program director/psychologist, social worker, and nursing staff; participation in CSTC medical staff activities, including team consultations, quality improvement projects, cross coverage for other units, and on-call coverage (at CSTC); compliance with relevant CMS, Joint Commission, and HIPAA standards.Teaching:Supervision and organization of on-site CSTC training for psychiatry, psychology, developmental pediatrics, medical students, and other trainees. Also providing didactic training for UW residents/child psychiatry fellows.Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to:
Training in evidence-based interventions, and experience in working with youth that present with severe self-harming behaviors and mood and behavioral dysregulation (e.g., DBT).Training/experience working with youth with developmental disabilities/autism.Training/experience in inpatient/therapeutic milieu models of care (e.g., collaborative problem solving, contingency management strategies, positive behavioral support).Systems of care planning/collaboration/consultation.Policy/advocacy within public systems of care.The base salary range for this position will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
The base salary range for a Clinical Assistant Professor position will be $16,667 - $20,000 monthly ($200,004 - $240,000 annually).
The base salary range for a Clinical Associate Professor position will be $19,584 - $23,334 monthly ($235,008 - $280,008 annually).
The base salary range for a Clinical Professor position will be $20,000 - $26,250 monthly ($240,000 - $315,000 annually).
