Position Overview:

As a Public Relations Associate, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing our public image and fostering strong relationships with our community. You will work collaboratively with various teams to develop and implement communication strategies that resonate with our audience. This position is ideal for individuals at all experience levels, from entry-level to senior-level professionals, who are passionate about public relations and community engagement.


Key Responsibilities: Assist in the development and execution of public relations campaigns that promote the Town of Shrewsbury's initiatives and events. Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials to engage with local media and stakeholders. Monitor media coverage and public sentiment regarding the Town's activities, providing insights and recommendations for improvement. Collaborate with internal teams to create compelling content for social media, newsletters, and the Town's website. Organize and coordinate community events, press conferences, and public meetings to enhance community engagement. Build and maintain relationships with local media representatives, community leaders, and other stakeholders. Conduct research to identify trends and opportunities for enhancing the Town's public relations efforts. Support crisis communication efforts by preparing timely and accurate information for the public and media. Assist in the development of communication strategies that align with the Town's goals and objectives. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in public relations. Qualifications: A degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory for entry-level candidates. Relevant experience in public relations, communications, or a related field is a plus, but we welcome applications from candidates at all experience levels. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and persuasive messages. Demonstrated ability to manage relationships and work collaboratively with diverse groups of people. A motivated and energetic personality with a passion for public engagement and community service. Proficiency in social media platforms and digital communication tools. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
