Requisition Summary
PACCAR's Global Powertrain Department develops engines, drivelines, and axles. They are operating in Europe and North America. The Zero Emissions Powertrain department is part of GPT and developing new electrified components to support truck applications in the global product offerings under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF brands. We are focused on new technologies such as battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell electric, and advanced vehicle concepts in the heavy and medium-duty transportation industries. We are seeking a Quality Assurance Officer - Design for Six Sigma to support quality in projects and processes within the Zero Emission Powertrain Department.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Implementation of Quality Procedures within N.A. teams, training, support, and oversight
Perform Q-Checks on 'Q'-Deliverables per PCP Tollgate requirements
Six Sigma Goal Definition, Project coordination/tracking, and Reporting
Support: assists engineers with all administrative work within the product creation process (i.e. reviews, DFMEA sessions, planning updates)
Continuous improvement: promotes a culture of continuous improvement within the organization. This involves identifying opportunities for process optimization and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
Collaboration: being a technical sparring partner and coach towards the engineers in the team. This may involve providing guidance and support, resolving issues, and facilitating communication between departments, and between departments and suppliers
Issue resolution: follow up on issues using Six Sigma tools for root cause analysis and product improvements (FRACAS, EPN, Tracks)
Report progress of work products: to communicate status, changes, risks/gaps, and identify opportunities for improvement including but not limited to Product Development, Purchasing, Operations, and Supplier Quality Assurance
Performs other work-related duties as assigned
Skills / Competencies
Demonstrated ability to work with a team to achieve timely objectives
Have experience in auditing procedures, processes, and tools
Experienced in quality methods and tools like DFSS / 6 Sigma, brainstorming sessions, problem-solving techniques, FMEA, DVP
Understand structured process development processes
Demonstrated truck and powertrain product knowledge
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to deliver technical presentations and written reports to diverse audiences
Collaborate on a global scale across multiple continents and time zones
Ready to learn and make use of new processes and techniques
Willingness to be outgoing, and engaging, with a demonstrated passion to deliver top-quality results
Travel up to 20% internationally
Qualifications
Experience with automotive or commercial vehicle powertrain analysis
Experience in the electrification of automotive
Six Sigma/DFSS trained
Thorough working knowledge of engine after-treatment strategies and analysis
Ability to lead projects of significant ambiguity and generate useful analytical results
Effectively manage personal workload and flexibility to respond to changing priorities
Education
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field required
