JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for park wide quality control inspections and audits in one or more of the following areas: Dimensional conformity, fiberglass laminate construction (FRP)/carbon fiber composites, material specification conformity, mechanical and structural non-destructive testing (NDT), process specification conformity, receiving, and welding. Provides neat, timely, and accurate inspection reports; facilitates problem resolution; provides input to Engineering and/or Management in areas of expertise during problem resolution or project planning stage(s). Performs all duties in accordance with Universal Orlando and Technical Services Engineering /Quality Control Departments policies and procedures.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspection of Ride and Show related elements including ride tracks, ride vehicles and all ride related components to assure product quality, accuracy, quality of workmanship, conformity to material specifications and welding procedure specifications (WPS) in accordance with the applicable codes and UO QC NDT procedures.
This includes both final products and in-process items. Also includes inspection of welding setups, excavations of defects, preparation and final welding using visual, magnetic particle, and liquid penetrant methods; inspection of received parts and components for dimensional accuracy; material conformity to specifications; and inspection of fiberglass/carbon fiber composite assemblies, both in-process and for final acceptance. Non-destructive testing (NDT MT/ PT/ VT inspection methods) of structural and mechanical ride and facility equipment.
Provides detailed/ accurate written reports of all inspections performed in a timely manner.
Communicates clear and accurate information as needed to UO engineering.
Performs inspections and process control verification audits of internal fabrication work groups, and at outside vendor locations.
Researches at Document Control, with Vendors, and Internet Sites for information and data relevant to inspection of goods under scrutiny.
Facilitates corrective action; provide input to Engineering, as necessary, in formulating plans for corrective action. Provides feedback to Engineering facilitating the ECN process for product improvement or cost effectiveness.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.

SCOPE:
Responsible for initial or follow up NDT inspections on all ride and show elements, ride vehicles and related components resort wide. Responsible for keeping all professional industry certifications obtained current and valid.
EDUCATION:
High school degree or GED is required.
Technical school is preferred.
Associate's degree (AA) or (AS) in quality or related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Required3+ Years: Experience with major ride and show attractions and performing inspections of structural (including bolting), mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment elements essential to those attractions.
3-5 Years: Experience working with machine or weld shop fabrication and or Q/C inspection for compliance with mechanical drawings
Preferred3- 5 Years: Experience in performing NDT Inspection of equipment using Visual Inspection (VT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT) and Liquid Penetrant Inspections (PT).
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Note: education may be substituted for years of work experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Level II certification in Magnetic Particle Test (MT) in accordance with American Society for Non- Destructive Testing (ASNT) – required;
Level II certification in Liquid Penetrant Inspection (PT) in accordance with American Society for Non- Destructive Testing (ASNT) – required;
ACCP Level II certification in Visual Inspection (VT) through American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT) – required;
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) through American Welding Society (AWS) – required;
National Association of Amusement Ride Safety Officials Level 1 (NAARSO) – required;
American Composites Manufactures Association CCT (ACMA) – required.
Note; at least 1 additional professional industry certification required for Inspector level, AWS CWI or ACMA CCT.
Industrial rope access certification – preferred.
