Summary The mission of the Quality Control Manager (QCM) is to provide leadership by ensuring QC personnel are trained and equipped, and that systems are established and maintained, in order to ensure high standards of quality product that meet internal and external Customer needs. The Quality Control Manager also provides leadership to project and/or production teams to ensure compliance to requirements of AS9100 and ISO9001, regulatory and contractual requirements to customers, delivery of quality products.
The QCM will report to the Director of Quality, directly overseeing personnel at Receiving Inspection (R/I), First Article Inspection, and Shipping Inspection (S/I). An emphasis will be placed on the implementation of continuous improvement to optimize processes, while also maintaining adherence to governing regulations and standards. This position will require strong interpersonal and communications skills as it will interact directly with Engineering, Value Stream production & support teams, Customers, Suppliers, and all levels of Quality Systems leadership.
Position Duties Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for QC staff (All Insp) that are integral to product conformance at the detail part, and final assembly.Establish metrics for QC functions that measure performance, and highlight improvement effort results.Drive metrics improvements to optimize inspection effectivity & efficiency.Review existing procedures to ensure the most efficient methods are employed, lead changes where needed, and revise procedures accordingly.Establish and maintain a sampling plan & acceptable measurement system for use in inspection operations.Develop and implement personnel training/cross-training and skill matrix to improve competencies and to support surge operations.Develop and implement Certified/Qualified Inspector program to cover all personnel receiving QC stamps.Establish an archiving system of all inspection and vendor certificate record keeping in accordance with Mason procedures.Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure implementation and documentation of effective Quality Management System, which includes, but not limited to, create, review, update and implement Quality Procedures and work instructions to ensure that all quality management system processes are well documented and meet AS9100, regulatory and contractual requirements to customers. Coordinate and perform internal audits. Assist in planning and facilitating internal auditor training.Coordinate external and customer audits, and drive any audit finding to closure with actions required.Perform review of customer quality requirements during proposal and contract review.Manage Calibration, FOD, Document Control, and Record Control processes to meet AS9100, regulatory and customer requirements.Support cross-functional teams in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action (CAR) efforts. (Internal and Customer)Manage First Article Inspection process and planning.Manage site calibration processMaintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from aboveUnderstand and live by Mason's ethics and business conduct policies Assist Director of Quality in management review and key process performance review processes.Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor degree preferred in Quality Management, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or related field;Three to five to years of progressive experience working in a Quality Supervision or Quality Engineering capacity within aerospace or other similar industry environment; Experience & Skills: Ability to develop personnel through mentoring and coaching, both formally and informally, and most importantly by example.Versed at developing metrics, and implementing actions that make improvements in those metrics.Working knowledge of blueprint interpretation in accordance with ANSI/Y-14.5.Proficient in understanding of ISO 9001, AS9100 standards, FAA and other regulatory requirements.Working knowledge in calibration process, basic metrology and MSA.Solid command in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, Outlook, AccessKnowledgeable in Risk Management Process including FMEAWorking knowledge in systematized approach to corrective action methodologies (8D, RCCA, 7 Step, CAR, etc.)Strong communications skills, in both oral and written forms.Comfortable in making decisions in a rapid paced, forward evolving environment.Unquestionable commitment to, and ability to lead actions in, continuous improvement efforts.Ability to independently make judgment determinations, particularly relating to product conformance, while elevating to Senior Management when prudent to do so.
