Position: Quality Technician I
Summary:
Under direct supervision the Quality Technician I assures the Quality of Laird processes and products by performing audits, inspections, tests, supports defect investigation and analysis, first article sample submission (AS9102) and maintains high detail oriented documentation process for all internal processes as well as for Source Inspection Items that need to be presented to Customer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists periodic product audits/inspections on running parts and conduct final shipment audits utilizing AS9100 Standard as the basis for auditing.
• Assists with system and process audits (supplier certification, internal system, subcontractor, comprehensive process, set up verifications, etc.).
• Investigate and process quality problems to aid in their thorough resolution with support the Quality Engineer area.
• Accurate and detailed ERP System / product transactions to maintain accurate inventory levels.
• Acquires knowledge necessary to interpret internal and customer specifications to determine acceptable from rejectable products.
• Develop and maintain filing system of inspection records for manufactured products.
• Update changes to customer specification criteria as directed.
• Ensure all necessary inspection records accompany shipments including detailed documentation on products requiring Source Inspections.
• Supports team when coordinating calibration of measurement equipment if required.
• Assist Quality Assurance Engineers and Manager as needed.
• Adheres to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards.
• Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
REQUIREMENTS
• Proficient in AS9100 Aerospace Standard is a plus, other related quality system standards (e.g., TS16949 etc.). Quality System Knowledge with background in Aerospace Products/Processes is highly preferred.
• Proficient in First Article documentation and preparation (AS9102).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints with close attention to detail.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments (Caliper's, Micrometer's, Optical Comparator's, Faro Arm CMM is a plus, Pin Gauges, Drop Gauge, etc).
• Ability to operate inspection/lab test equipment (such as OGP, hardness tester, etc)
• Computer skills including spreadsheet, word processing, and database management software
• Data analysis skills and problem-solving skills consistent with 8-Discipline technique
• Good written and oral communication skills as well as good interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Background in RF and or Electrical field is preferred.
• Fundamental knowledge of mathematical concepts.
• Must have good or corrected eyesight to insure quality of work and ability to lift and carry 20 pounds frequently
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma with additional technical courses, CQT or CMI preferred.
• Minimum 5 year Quality Inspector experience in manufacturing and minimum of 2 years of Quality Technician Experience.
