Overview Individual works under the direction of the Quality Manager, performing quality inspections, root cause analyses, implementing corrective actions, writing relevant reports, and leading improvement projects.
Responsibilities Lead and report on Root Cause and Corrective Action effortsPrepare corrective action reportsLead RMA resolution activities and report on open RMAsReview and disposition DMRsParticipate in or lead continuous improvement events/projectsParticipate in or lead plant equipment repair, improvement, and maintenance activitiesLead quality audits of internal and external processesCreate and maintain inspection proceduresPerform metallographic inspectionsPrepare material analysis reportsMaintain and provide training on inspection systems and toolsEstablish machine capability envelopes for key production equipmentTrack and report on vendor qualityPrepare progress or status reportsPerform materials testing as neededPerform dimensional inspections as needed to support quality techniciansQualifications Education/Experience: Scientific degree (BS or AS with demonstrated experience)Experience with a process improvement framework: FMEA, six sigma, or otherExperience writing professional reports3+ years of experience with dimensional inspection in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge: Proficient in reading engineering drawingsExpert user of Microsoft office suiteDeep knowledge of inspection tools and methodsDeep knowledge of process improvement tools and methodsSkills: Good organizational skillsGood project management skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong analytical skillsAble to create informative visual representations of dataPreferred Skills: Experience with metallographic inspectionSolid modeling with SolidworksPractical experience with statistical analysisPhysical/Environmental Demands: Possess manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with the fingers and perceive attributes of objects and materials.
