The Quality Lead will oversee and manage the quality assurance and quality control processes within our cheese manufacturing facility. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining quality standards and procedures to ensure our products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food quality assurance, specifically within the cheese industry, and possess excellent leadership and communication skills.
Job Responsibilities:
Quality Management:
Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance and control programs, policies, and procedures for cheese production.
Monitor and ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
Conduct regular quality audits and inspections throughout the production process to identify and address any issues.
Lead and mentor a team of quality assurance technicians and staff, providing guidance, training, and support.
Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the team and across the manufacturing facility.
Product Testing and Analysis:
Oversee and manage the testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications.
Analyze test results, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions as needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of quality assurance activities, including test results, audit findings, and corrective actions.
Prepare and present quality reports and performance metrics to management.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to ensure the facility remains compliant and competitive.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Science, or a related field; preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance within the cheese or dairy industry; preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong knowledge of cheese manufacturing processes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs as needed.
