As a Senior Quantum Engineer on the Systems Performance team, you will help to build the next generation of Rigetti's quantum hardware and unlock new performance levels of our quantum processors. In your daily work, you will design and execute experiments to test new device layouts and hardware configurations, perform measurements and data analysis, identify loss and dephasing channels, and propose new experimental solutions to improve device performance. You will work cross-functionally with a diverse set of engineers and scientists, with expertise spanning cryogenics, device design and fabrication, RF electronics, and software development, to identify and mitigate hardware limitations on device performance.
Key Responsibilities
Independently design and execute experimental programs to inform the technical roadmap and drive systems-level improvements.
Identify and address complex gaps in existing technology through collaborative work with cross-functional teams.
Define and test requirements of new hardware components from the perspective of quantum processor performance.
About You
A Ph. D. in experimental physics.
Command of RF measurement techniques.
Hands on experience with cryogenic systems and measurements.
A demonstrated expertise in experimental problem solving and experimental research with a focus on product development.
Ability to focus on defined goals and quickly adapt a plan in view of new data.
Working knowledge of Python.
Enjoys teamwork and inter-team collaboration.
Track record of meaningful accomplishments in quantum science or related fields.
Nice to Have
Experience with superconducting quantum devices, time-domain measurements, single- and two-qubit gates.
Experience with dispersive readout.
Strong coding skills.
Prior technical role in an industry or start-up environment.
$159,000 - $180,000 a year
