Our Urology Group Affiliates consist of Chesapeake Urology, Arizona Urology- Phoenix & Scottsdale, Arizona Urology Tucson, Colorado Urology & Tennessee Urology.Position Summary:The Radiation Therapist is responsible for performing the accurate delivery of prescribed ionizing therapeutic radiation under the direction of a Radiation Oncologist, using a variety of complex techniques and equipment.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Interprets and implements prescription and treatment plan as directed by the Radiation Oncologist.Educate patients on procedures, skincare, side effects, and nutrition.Performs simulation procedures and prepares immobilization devices for various body parts.Monitors patients clinical progresswithholds treatment if necessary andrefers patients to Radiation Oncologist or Executive Director for appropriate intervention.Operation of the therapeutic equipment, proper patient positioning, monitoring of the patient during the procedure, and related clerical duties.Evaluates and assesses treatment machine operations; recognizes machine malfunctions and reports them to Executive Director.Communicates clearly and concisely with all members of the health care team, patients, and families.Meet and adhere to strict radiation safety guidelines, internal quality controls, organizational standards, department policies and procedures, and strategic goals.Accurately complete and chart all simulation and treatment summaries, reports, and documentation.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time, with or without notice.Qualifications:Graduated from an accredited Radiation Therapy School.Current ARRT and State licensure required and will be verified prior to employment.Current BLS license required and will be verified prior to employment.Minimum ofsix (6) months experience as a staff therapist.Knowledge, Competencies & Skills:Excellent customer service skills.Attention to detail and willingness to learn.Current knowledge of appropriate clinical practice, radiation protection, and quality assurance.Proficient knowledge of medical terminology.Strong communication skills, both verbal & written.Proficient computer software and database skills.Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.Very comfortable asking probing questions to patients.Must demonstrate a caring, compassionate, and patient attitude.Maintain HIPAA compliance.Multitasking and proactive problem-solving.Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.Direct Reports:N/A.Travel:Must have the ability & willingness to travel to other sites as necessary within a geographic region.Physical Requirements for the Job:Able to sit, stand, and or walk throughout the day.Intermittently required to stoop, bend, speak, and listen.Good general health and stress-coping ability.Complete mobility and the capacity to engage in strenuous action, such as walking continuously into and out of the treatment area and lifting and moving patients as required.Equal Opportunity Employer: United Urology Group and its affiliate practices are an equal opportunity employer.
