Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Performs diagnostic x-ray procedures under the supervision of a qualified physician. Uses x-ray technology and techniques to assist in the diagnosis of patient medical problems for patients throughout the age continuum.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2. *Performs all types of diagnostic x-ray procedures to include radiography, fluoroscopy, portable diagnostic and portable fluoroscopy; practices radiation safety for patients, staff and self.
3. *Uses sterile technique as required.
4. *Optimally demonstrates patient anatomy through proper positioning and selection of technical factors.
5. Performs venipunctures.
6. *Competently operates all diagnostic x-ray equipment and support systems to include HIS, RIS, Scheduling System, PACS and offsite Radiologist Services
7. *Utilizes department computer systems, PACS, to review patient history and provide accurate documentation of studies.
8. *Properly cares for and images patients of all ages; maintains patient confidentiality.
9. *Coordinates exams within the department and with other departments to provide expedient and complete care; demonstrates flexibility in scheduling and proper communication with medical staff, coworkers, patients, families and other hospital staff to assure quality patient care.
10. *Handles telephone calls for scheduling, coordination or questions with courtesy and accuracy.
11. Participates in the department's quality improvement plan as assigned.
12. *Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment as necessary; notifies coordinator of equipment problems and calls appropriate service vendors as needed.
13. *Keeps area properly supplied.
14. *Competently sets up and operates various c-arms to support high volume surgical cases in the operating room. Develops positive rapport with surgeons in the operating room.
15. *Competently sets up and operates o-arms in the operating room to support high volume surgical cases, working closely with the surgeons.
16. *Competently operates all x-ray equipment to perform trauma imaging via portable or stationary x-ray systems. Achieves high quality trauma images in an expedient manner.
17. *Competently and efficiently completes all types of x-ray imaging for high volume trauma clinic patients.
18. Assists with departmental orientation and student clinical education as directed.
19. *Accesses and administers drugs and biologicals that are pertinent to essential job functions in accordance with Medical Center procedures.
20. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
21. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
22. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit including but not limited to age-specific competencies relative to patient's growth and developmental needs, annual skill competency verification and mandatory education and competencies.
2. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
3. Knowledge of Joint Commission, federal and state regulatory requirements.
4. Knowledge of radiologic positioning, and use of technical factors and radiation safety practices.
5. Skill in operating radiologic equipment, image capturing devices, PACS and other related systems.
6. Ability to react appropriately and perform work under stressful and emergent situations.
7. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate of a school of Radiologic Technology with current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required. Valid State of Nebraska Medical Radiographer license required.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
