Performs a variety of technical procedures and examinations that require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purpose in accordance with the standard of practice and code of ethics of Radiologic technologist.
RESPONSIBILITIES Patient Care - Provides high quality examinations in diagnostic radiography, in special procedures and interventional procedures. Practices the code of ethics of Radiology Technology. Access and maintains knowledge of the patient condition and responds to changes appropriately. Interacts with attending physicians, Radiologists and co-workers to provide quality patient care, using all pertinent clinical data (history, prior exams). Refers anything unusual to the Radiologist for evaluation, action or follow up. Communication - Demonstrates the ability to process and interface appropriate information between the Radiologist, health care team, the patient, family and/or significant other to ensure quality patient outcomes. Maintains an orderly and safe patient environment. Inventories and restocks supplies as necessary in the Radiology room. Documentation - Completes all exam documentation (i.e. film marking, patient records, equipment records). Enters data on patient tracking, repeats, charges and exam completions into RIS system on a daily basis. Performs clerical duties related to the completion of exam as directed. Ensures all patient data in PACS is accurate. CQI - Participates in data collection (i.e. monitoring studies, research). Understands process and impacts of CQI programs. Identifies problems/trends within Diagnostic Imaging utilizing ongoing QA/CQI activities to improve the quality of Diagnostic Imaging Services. Unit Specific Responsibilities QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS EXPERIENCE Minimum of one year experience preferred. EDUCATION High School graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Thorough understanding of the principles and procedures of modern Radiologic Technology. Registered by the A.R.R.T. preferred Valid New York State Radiographic license from the Department of Health. OTHER Cross training in other modalities of Diagnostic Imaging, based on the needs of the department and job qualifications.
