Reporting to the Director of Radiology/Imaging with accountability to the manager and under the direction of the surgeons and the radiologists performs surgical diagnostic procedure in surgery and other diagnostic x-ray procedures; trains and supervises students in the Surgery Department area.
1.
Performs all types of diagnostic procedures with strong emphasize on surgical diagnostic procedure examinations using a c-arm, including but not limited to Cholangiograms, hip pinnings, femoral roddings, retrogrades, pace maker implants, cystoscopy, bronchoscopy, femoral bypass, O-Arm and Pain Management.
Ability to perform Medtronics Stealth Navigation a plus.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assess, treat, and care for all age groups of patients (neonatal through geriatric); implements assessment/treatment/care based on the developmental stages of the patient.
3.
Participates in ensuring aseptic conditions are maintained in the Surgical room during the examination process; Cleans all radiographic equipment after each patient.
4.
Processes images and checks for proper quality.
5.
Reports any diagnostic equipment in surgery malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor as well as able to place service request.
6.
Assists in maintaining adequate levels of supplies in work areas.
7.
Supervises activities of students assigned to surgical work area and assists in appropriate training of students.
8.
Participates in "on-call" rotation schedule.
9.
Schedules exams and maintains quality of services in the Surgery area in the absence of the Primary Lead Surgical Technologist.
Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.
10.
Assumes responsibility for own professional growth by attending Continuing Education classes, seminars, and reading professional journals.
11.
Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies and procedures.
12.
Able to work Holidays as well as take Holiday call.
Qualifications
1.
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program required.
2.
Current ARRT registration with certification in Radiography and Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Dept of Nuclear Safety accreditation (IEMA)required.
3.
One year experience as a general radiographer with operating roomexperience
4.
Current CPR certification required from American Heart Association.
5.
Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
6.
Demonstrated ability to perform numerous radiographic examinations in OR,
7.
The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients and who may be anxious or confused and to interact whit surgeons and other hospital staff.
8.
The analytical ability to determine proper patient positioning and to determine quality of exams performed.
9.
The communication skills necessary to inform patients regarding examination procedures and discuss procedure requirement with surgeons.
10.
The ability to maintain a flexible work schedule which includes accommodating patients past scheduled work hours.
11.
The ability to use a computer to perform the representative functions and competencies of the job as defined by the Radiology Department.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate physical effort.
Requires continuous standing or walking.
Requires frequent lifting or moving of average weight material (positioning and moving equipment) and occasionally lifting or moving heavy weight material (transferring patients) in difficult work positions.

Flow of work and character of duties involves concentrated mental/visual attention much or all of the time along with manual coordination.

Conditions are acceptable.
At least one disagreeable element or hazard, i.e.
risk of exposure to radiation, is frequently present in the environment and there is occasional exposure to infectious diseases.
