Job Description - Radiology Tech Extender (******** ) A Brief Overview
Provides support and assistance to the Radiologic Technologist in caring for patients and family members during the imaging process, completing clerical/computer duties, lifting/transporting of patients, and following hospital and departmental policies, protocols, and SOPs (including Radiation and MRI safety).
What You Will Do Assist the Radiologic Technologist by completing basic patient assessments including verifying patient orders, completing patient questionnaires, patient preparation and instruction. Communication with other members of the health care team to help coordinate patient care.Facilitate patient care including, lifting, transport, chaperone and monitoring of patients.Assist with Radiology computer information and data entry including PAC system.Ensure the adequate availability of procedural supplies to include ordering and stocking patient care supply item.Follow hospital initiative in order to meet patient satisfaction goals.Follow MRI and radiation safety policies and procedures.Follow hospital and department Core Values, SOPs, policies, and standards.Register and check-in patients.Communicate with other members of the health care team to help coordinate patient care.Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned.Complies with all policies and standards.For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.Education High School Equivalent / GED High School diploma (Required)Work Experience Less than 1 year customer service experience (Required)Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Basic patient care skills (Required proficiency)Able to communicate effectively and interact with a diverse population across multi-generations.
