Recovery Legal Collector

Job summary
Responsible for performing collection activities associated with serious delinquent member accountsHandles foreclosures and manages the maintenance and repair of foreclosed propertiesWorks towards prompt recovery of charged off accounts through negotiation or settlement

Responsibilities
• Utilizes effective human relations skills and various forms of persuasion to present a positive Credit Union image• Reviews member files to establish validity of bankruptcy proceedings• Negotiates with attorney and/or court to obtain court ordered repossession orders• Handles and oversees legal proceedings involving real property• Monitors attorney accounts to ensure timely filing and follow-up of legal proceedings• Performs recovery collections' efforts in accordance with Credit Union policies and procedures
Requirements
• High school graduate or equivalent, additional business training preferred• Thorough knowledge of collection procedures, skip tracing, and related laws and regulations• Experience with full-service financial institution collections• Accuracy and thoroughness in work, ability to manage projects• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well independently
Key Skills Needed
• Thorough understanding of Credit Union loan products and policies• Familiarity with deposit programs and casualty insurance• Understanding of legal terminology and documents relating to collection actions• Basic understanding of business law and court systems
