VISION: The goal of the residency is to fully equip every individual to be an effective minister of the Gospel, either in a traditional ministry setting or church-planting context.
Preparation for Gospel work will flourish if those in training can be placed in a local church where they have opportunities to test and grow their gifts. Only by putting into practice what they are learning in the classroom will they grow. Residents need a safe environment to make mistakes and learn from them. They also need the opportunity to develop the right instincts for ministry by participating in a substantial, meaningful way.
Formal education offers great content and a logical structure for teaching. However, when it comes to personal and character development, nothing compares with having a mentor. This dynamic is particularly true in Gospel ministry where life and doctrine are so intimately connected.
Although pastors are not strictly professionals, there are professional skills that are applied every day. Therefore, residents will be developed in some strategic ways: church administration, public speaking, productivity, leading staff teams, etc.
If you are going to teach the Bible well, you will need tools that will help you read, understand, and prepare to teach God's Word. Our goal is to prepare you to share and apply God's Word thoughtfully and faithfully.
The Redeemer Residency Program is a total of two years. This gives the resident time to not only observe but also do meaningful ministry.
