Job Description - Refinery Chemist (23001MN) Description: Performs laboratory duties related to safety, qualification training, and analytical testing.Assists with compliance protocols relative to fuel quality, statistical quality control, audits batch records, document retention, and control.Assists in configuration of LIMS for products, process samples, and technician duties.Develops training documents and safety procedures.Trains and qualifies laboratory technicians.Evaluates new equipment for purchase.Monitors quality of process streams and products.Oversight of contract sampling companies for fuels compliance.Non-routine sample preparation and testing.Interacts with vendors, regulatory agencies, unit operations, and the corporate asphalt team.Responsible for maintaining AASHTO asphalt accreditation.Maintains oversight of instrument calibration, method development, and optimization.Maintains analytical specialization in asphalt testing and blending.Performs special projects assigned by Laboratory Manager.Performs research for process unit optimization and product formulations.This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology, Bio-Chemistry, Physics, or related field required.3 years of directly related laboratory experience required.Minimum of 5 years prior experience with asphalt production & testing, fuels testing, and quality control preferred.Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
