Akron Children's is expanding the Division of Newborn Medicine to provide regional coverage in Northeast Ohio. We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Newborn Hospitalists to join our growing team. We welcome new graduates or established providers to provide care for well newborns, attend level 2 deliveries, and support the Special Care Nursery patients. There is connectivity between the newborn hospitalists, neonatologists, and specialists from Akron Children's Hospital offering a collaborative approach to patient care.
Physicians will have flexibility to work in a dedicated nursery setting full time (12 –12h shifts per month) or split time in a community Level 2 Special Care Nursery (SCN) within a community hospital (24h shifts), pediatric inpatient service at a community hospital (24h shifts), or pediatric inpatient service at the Akron campus (12h shifts).

Key Responsibilities include: Provide comprehensive care for well newbornsAttend and manage level 2 deliveries, ensuring the health and safety of newbornsCollaborate with a NICU team for backup and supportEnsure high standards of clinical care and patient safetyCommunicate effectively with families, providing education and supportCollaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient careMaintain accurate and timely medical recordsParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activitiesQualifications include: MD or DO degree from an accredited medical schoolBoard Certified/Board Eligible in PediatricsValid medical license to practice in the state of OhioNRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), PALS, and BLS certification required (will be provided for those not currently certified)Strong clinical skills and experience in newborn resuscitationExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work effectively in a team-oriented environmentCommitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered careCircumcision skills are a plusThis opportunity offers: Competitive guaranteed base salaryStarting Bonus paid upon start of employmentComprehensive benefits packageOccurrence based malpracticeRelocation assistanceStudent loan repayment strategiesAccess to state-of-the-art facilities and resourcesThis position is a 501(c)(3) site which qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through the Federal government.
