Position Description: To support FEMA Region 3 – specifically its External Affairs Division as a Regional Preparedness Liaison (RPL). ICPD works to increase whole community preparedness and strengthen the resiliency of communities across the nation in the face of natural disasters. Through public outreach and stakeholder engagement, ICPD seeks to increase awareness of the risks associated with natural disasters and move individuals, communities, and organizations to action in preparing them to face these risks. Working with community-based volunteer organizations, ICPD seeks to engage all sectors of a community in disaster preparedness. In FEMA Region 3, data analysis is used to identify programming and communities where support is most needed.
Region 3 Programming revolves around youth preparedness (K-12 education), development of preparedness messaging toolkits, support of public facing events (community events, conferences, and travel to state partner sites), support for community preparedness conferences, development of presentation templates, and development of external affairs products (talking points, news releases, external affairs guidance, and messaging). The RPL will support the Region with the implementation of its preparedness goals and objectives to serve its stakeholders more effectively from all aspects of the community and all levels of government.
Role/Responsibilities: Development and support of a regional Youth Preparedness Council and an overall youth preparedness program Development of monthly toolkits, tips, and tagline documents, and maintenance of a monthly preparedness messaging cadence. Support public facing events. These events consist of table events, public meetings and presentations, conferences, and state emergency management agencies. The RPL will be expected to develop, foster, and maintain stakeholder relationships. Support of emergency management and community preparedness conferences, both internal and external. Assist in the development of conference agenda, logistics, and associated products (talking points, slide decks, etc. Assist in the development of external affairs products, such as talking points, news releases, media outreach, speech/op-ed writing, and video scripts. Act as the "go-to" messenger for individual and community preparedness. Required Skills: Bachelor's Degree required A basic understanding of emergency management, emergency preparedness, and community outreach and organizing is needed Candidate should be a proficient writer, able to understand complex issues and simplify them for public consumption Candidate must be willing to travel, up to 25% of the time, to events in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Washington D.C., Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia Candidate must be willing to work on-site into the regional office (Philadelphia) up to four times per pay period (~8 days per month) Ability to obtain a FEMA security clearance At Teracore, we support, depend and thrive on differences for the benefit of our associates and customers.
