POSITION SUMMARY: The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for the supervision and leadership of Specialty Account Managers and Senior Specialty Account Managers within the local geography as well as the sales performance at the regional level. The Regional Sales Manager enables effective business planning through deployment of sales and marketing strategies in alignment with Halozyme priorities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for supervising operations of the Region, including hiring, training, coaching and development of representatives.Develops and implements strategic plans for the Region.Plans, organizes, and monitors activities/projects to achieve the business potential of the Region.Establishes and maintains an effective communications rhythm amongst all team members.Maintains required technical expertise to respond accurately to all questions regarding products, policies, and business-related issues from customers and representatives.Works in the field with all members of the Region to coach and counsel on improvement of selling skills, product knowledge, and capabilities needed for successful representative performance.Conducts performance reviews and proactively provides feedback and coaching.Handles all performance management issues resulting in discipline and/or termination in coordination with Halozyme Human Resources.Responds to personnel matters in a timely, caring, and compliant manner.Effectively plans and conducts Plan of Action and other meetings with members of the Region.Develops, presents to senior leadership, and implements quarterly and annual business plans.Manages Regional promotional spend within budget.Reviews and approves expense reports and ensures compliance with travel & expense policies.Monitors compliance with PDMA and sample accountability procedures.Upholds regional compliance with laws, policies, and processes for self and team.Successfully coach direct reports to effectively facilitate change management within accounts.Achieves quarterly and annual sales goals.Ability to partner effectively with Commercial Home Office, Halozyme cross-functional teammates, Medical Affairs, Key Opinion Leaders, and healthcare professionals.Other duties and special projects as assigned.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Bachelor's degree required.Five or more years of delivering successful sales results through front-line leadership in the pharmaceutical or biotech industries.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Experience managing representatives who had sold to healthcare professionals specializing in the treatment of pertinent diseases.Strong organizational and analytical skills are required.Ability to develop and motivate others, lead through change, and deliver on business imperatives.Knowledge of products and disease states including maintaining up-to-date understanding of Halozyme and competitor product information.Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care, and company-sponsored reimbursement programs and how they affect each provider.Effective planning and resource utilization skills.Strong ability to make data-driven decisions that result in revenue optimization.Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals and teams to develop and/or implement programs and strategies to better serve partners.Possesses a valid driver's license.Ability to effectively manage a large geographic territory assignment.Ability to travel overnight, if necessary.Specialty sales leadership experience is preferred.Product reimbursement experience is preferred.Knowledge of software required: Tableau, Veeva, and ability to coach team on utilizing analytical toolsets for generating sales-related insights.EFFORT REQUIRED/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Physical Activities: The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
