**Description** ** _Summary:_**This 36-bed Orthopedic Medical Surgical unit specializes in the care ofpatients ranging from Orthopedic, Spine, Neurological, Plastics, and Traumarelated surgeries. This unit serves the general adult population ranging fromyoung adult to geriatric. Located on the 6th floor, this specialty inpatientunit operates at an accelerated pace caring for post-operative patients,trauma stepdown, and patients admitted through the ED. Our care is driven byour mission and core values at CHRISTUS. The department promotes a teamatmosphere with a focus on patient-centered care. Our team works very closelywith Beaumont Bone and Joint, our Physical Therapy department, and an in-housed Nurse Practitioner to provide an exceptional level of post-surgicalcare. The Physical Therapy Department is a neighboring unit also located onthe 6th floor, just down the hall. Physical Therapy rounds on all Orthopedicpatients twice a day on our unit. We offer flexible scheduling and an engagingenvironment by promoting education and leadership among our team. A RegisteredProfessional Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care through theprocess of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Inaddition, the Registered Professional Nurse prescribes, delegates,coordinates, supervises and evaluates patient teaching and the activities ofthe ancillary nursing personnel while maintaining the standards ofprofessional nursing. The Registered Nurse is able to provide direct andindirect care to patients.**_Requirements:_** * Graduate of a State Board accredited School of Nursing or equivalent. * 1 year of RN acute hospital experience preferred. * Current RN license or permit to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas.
