JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse for Cardiac Rehab plans, implements and evaluates patient educational needs in the cardiovascular inpatient population. This includes post-operative CABG, pre & post-catheterization and other cardiac related conditions. The RN Inpatient Cardiac Rehab also assumes basic teaching and leadership responsibilities. Participation in department committees, statistical tracking, and Performance Improvement activities is expected.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess cardiovascular inpatient population to provide educational plans according to AACVPR guidelines
Identify individual risk factors associated with cardiac and pulmonary disease and assist with risk stratification
Develop individualized educational plans based on patient's goals and expectations
Document all patient care activities according to departmental and hospital policies for medical records
Facilitate the CABG discharge class in collaboration with other healthcare disciplines
Frequently cross trains to the outpatient cardiac rehab program and works a flexible schedule as needed
Remain up to date with cardiac disease, anatomy and physiology, risk stratification, exercise physiology, diet and nutrition
Display a calm demeanor and direct the team in appropriate actions in emergency situations
Actively assist and support departmental activities to ensure that operational and salary expenses are equal to or less than approved budget
Maintain the principles of confidentiality and understand the legal/regulatory requirement related to the release of information
QUALIFICATIONS
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida
One year of previous experience on a cardiology related patient care unit is required
Critical care experience preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows
