Job Description:The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.Job SummaryAs a Registered Nurse Express Admission, you will play a key role in streamlining the patient admission process for those arriving through the Emergency Department (ED) or as direct admits. You will conduct rapid assessments and coordinate care to ensure efficient patient admissions, timely treatments, and smooth transitions to the appropriate inpatient unit. Our hospital offers a supportive and collaborative environment where innovation and teamwork are highly valued.Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Registered Nurse Express Admission, you will:Provide Admission Support: Complete initial admission assessments for patients arriving from the Emergency Department (ED) or direct admits, ensuring all critical information is gathered efficiently.Expedite the Admission Process: Work to reduce delays in the admission process, enhancing both RN and patient satisfaction by speeding up the transition from ED or direct admission to inpatient units.Comprehensive Patient Assessments: Perform physical assessments with a strong focus on skin integrity and risk assessments, including evaluating Social Determinants of Health.Collaboration with Care Teams: Work closely with admitting providers, case management, and social workers to ensure all patient and family concerns are addressed and that important details like Code Status are clarified.Improve RN Efficiency: Increase the time available for RNs to focus on direct patient care by reducing time spent on admission documentation and other administrative tasks.Enhance Patient Experience: Assist ED nurses with patient care and ensure that patients are satisfied with their experience while waiting for inpatient placement.Documentation and Accuracy: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of patient medical/surgical histories, improving the admission/history completion rate.Prevent Overtime: Reduce end-of-shift overtime by ensuring timely and accurate completion of the admission process.Position DetailsScheduled Weekly Hours: 20 hoursShift: Dayshift, No holidays, or weekendsLocation: Grand Junction, COMinimum QualificationsGraduate from an accredited School of Nursing.Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.BSN required within four (4) years of hire for ASN/ADN graduates, unless the nurse has at least 15 years of proven continuous RN experience in an acute care setting.Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers upon hire or within 60 days with prior approval.ACLS, PALS, or NRP certifications may be required based on patient population.Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient turnover environment.Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience in ED.Why Join Us?At St. Mary's Regional Hospital, we offer a supportive, team-oriented environment where your contributions directly impact patient care and satisfaction. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.- and -Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.- and -Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).- and -May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.Location:St. Marys Regional HospitalWork City:Grand JunctionWork State:ColoradoScheduled Weekly Hours:20The hourly range for this position is listed below.
