TGH Brooksville & Spring Hill are a 244-bed Health System Joint Commission, Accredited Chest Pain Center, and Primary Stroke Center.


TGH Brooksville care services include a surgery program, a dedicated orthopedic joint replacement center, and two cardiac catheterization labs.
The joint replacement program offers robotic-arm assisted partial knee and total hip replacement surgeries.
TGH Brooksville is designated as an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention)

TGH Spring Hill features a Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
TGH Spring Hill also offers care for women during pregnancy and continuing through birth, postpartum care, and beyond.
BTGH Crystal River Wound Care Center offers care for non-healing wounds and hyperbaric medicine programs that use technology to help heal wounds.
Other care services include general surgery, ENT (ear, nose, and throat), plastic surgery, urology, and therapy rehab centers including outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapies.


The Surgical First Assistant assists physicians in surgery and may perform specific significant surgical tasks under "professional supervision."
The RNFA collaborates with the surgeon in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient.
The RNFA practices perioperative care and must have acquired the necessary specific knowledge, skills and judgment.


The RNFA meets departmental standard for professional accountability.


1.
Obtains at least 100 continuing education credits, 30 of which must be in the advanced category within a 6 year time-frame

Provides age appropriate care, as evidenced by completion of age specific competency checklist

3.
Demonstrates competency in technical skills by completion of applicable core and annual skills checklists and test

4.
Demonstrates competency in critical thinking skill as evidenced by performance in critical / emergency situations and application of Standards and Recommended Practices of Perioperative Nursing related to technical skill level

Qualifications

• Florida RN license

• Completion of RNFA technology program; Completion of an assisting course.


• One year experience as RNFA or current staff member obtaining RNFA.
Training obtained under preceptor ship from surgeons; Documentation of a minimum of 150 surgical cases within the defined specialty area

• BLS, ACLS certifications required.
Current credentialing as a certified first assistant.
