PsyPhyCare, a division of Business Staffing of America, Inc., is seeking to fill a part-time Registered Nurse position for a federally supported client in Charleston, WV.
Medical services are required on a weekly basis to assist students (populations ranging from 100 to over 300) in attaining and maintaining optimal health through services provided at the Center. These services will focus on monitoring the Health and Wellness program to ensure that students acquire the health-related skills, knowledge, and attitudes that help make them employable.
LOCATION:
The Wellness Center serves at-risk youth on a residential campus, preparing students for meaningful employment. The students, ages 16 to 24, are located in Charleston, WV.
PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE:
This is a temporary position for 3-4 months, with a possibility of extension at the end of the initial period.
The position requires 40 hours per week, or 5 days during the normal workweek.
Shifts Available:
Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with weekends off.
ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide nursing services within the scope of practice for state-specific nurse practice acts.Triage emergency or urgent situations, administer emergency or first aid care, and assess students who report to the clinic during walk-in hours to determine the appropriate level of care.Monitor students with chronic conditions to ensure medication and treatment protocols are followed.Assess and treat illnesses using established protocols or refer to a physician or nurse practitioner when appropriate.Assist physicians or nurse practitioners with examinations and scheduling.Track labs and testing to ensure continuity of care and compliance with billing procedures.Ensure student immunizations are in compliance with federal and state law, as well as Job Corps requirements.Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in accordance with PRH and Job Corps Wellness Guidelines.Provide follow-up care for both minor and major illnesses via phone interviews or appointments with a physician or nurse practitioner.Schedule and track follow-up appointments and referrals off-center.Administer prescription medications as ordered by a licensed physician or nurse practitioner.Educate students about their illnesses or injuries to facilitate positive recovery.Promote health and wellness by educating students through one-on-one teaching, class presentations, and setting a positive example.Maintain prescription inventory, follow-up on supply orders, and monitor expiration dates.Maintain a supply of non-prescription medications for use by instructors, residential, and recreation staff in first aid and medical kits.Provide in-service instruction to staff on a variety of health and wellness topics.Foster and maintain a working relationship with community partners.Serve on committees as appointed.Cultivate and maintain a safe and respectful climate free of harassment and intimidation for staff and students.Model appropriate career success standards, mentor students, monitor skill acquisition, and intervene when inappropriate behavior is observed.Perform other duties as requested. REQUIREMENTS: Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of West Virginia.Active, unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in West Virginia.Minimum of an Associate's degree in Nursing.Two (2) years of related experience.Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
