Description: Full-Time 12 Hour Night Shift
7SW (Surgical & General Trauma Unit): is a 33-bed adult inpatient surgical unit located on the 7th floor occupying the south and west wings.
Patient population may include but not limited to the following: Trauma, General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Gynecology and Medicine.
7SW is a semi-private unit.
RN works with a PCT.
A charge RN is assigned for both shifts to facilitate immediate unit needs and acts as direct resource.
Acute nursing care treatment and monitoring modalities include but not limited to periodic vital signs, centralized telemetry, oxygen monitoring, glucose monitoring and wound care.
Most common diagnoses and surgical procedures are traumatic brain injury, polytraumas, cholecystectomies, prostatectomies, joint replacements, percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) urinary diversions, and other urologic procedures, bowel resections and ostomies.
Standard work includes hourly rounding and bedside shift report to maintain patient safety and comfort.
WIND (What is needed for discharge) rounds occur daily during the week to provide interdisciplinary planning for patient's safe discharge.
