What you'll do The Registered Professional Nurse II, Acute Care is accountable for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process. The RN assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to patient needs. The RN contributes to the support of patients through interdisciplinary teamwork.
Provides nursing care and services to patients throughout the life span and in various settings consistent with educational preparation.Collects, analyzes and records relevant patient health data accurately.Analyzes assessment data to identify patient problems.Identifies expected outcomes individualized to the patient.Develops a plan of care that describes interventions to attain expected outcomes.Implements and records interventions appropriate to diagnosis or patient problem.Evaluates the patient's progress toward attainment of identified goals.Adheres to approved, research-based practice standards.Directs and supervises patient care provided by LPNs and support personnel.Demonstrates consideration of safety, effective utilization of equipment and materials, and cost in managing patient care.Acts effectively as charge nurse, group leader or preceptor when assigned.Writes a progress note that demonstrates an understanding of the patient's status and progress toward achievement of goals.Ability to function in charge nurse or leadership capacity as determined by practice arena.Advocates for patients to ensure that care preserves and protects the patient's autonomy, dignity and rights.Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity.Assures that patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures.Acts on behalf of patients in an ethical manner.Adheres to ANA Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses.Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice.Provides proof of current licensure validation to supervisor.Completes required unit credentialing according to departmental policy.Provides to supervisor evidence of completion of all required training and competency validation.Participates in level appropriate number of hours of educational activity, according to pathway, related to job function annually.Demonstrates clinical problem-solving ability.Participates in quality improvement processes for the department and institution as assigned.Participates in nursing research.Commits to an attitude of inquiry, research-based practice, and the advancement of nursing science.Helps to identify clinical problems requiring investigation.Assists in the collection of data within a structured format.Partners with senior nurses to use research findings in clinical practice.Performs other duties as requested by supervisor or manager. What we need from you Education: 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing, required.Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program, required.4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred.All RN's hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor's prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. BSN must be completed within 10 years. RN's licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement.
