Big picture, we are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at Mount Weather, VA. This role involves delivering comprehensive patient care, ensuring operational readiness, and maintaining the highest quality standards. Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center, operated by FEMA, is a critical facility designed to ensure the continuity of government operations during emergencies. This facility typically employs a range of medical professionals to address the health and safety needs of their occupants. This staff may include physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and other healthcare specialists trained to manage medical emergencies and provide routine care. These professionals are essential for maintaining the well-being of personnel during extended operations in secure environments.
What does a typical day look like for the Registered Nurse (RN)?
You will:
? Provide nursing care, including assessments, treatment plans, and patient education.
? Administer medications and perform diagnostic procedures as needed.
? Maintain compliance with medical protocols and operational guidelines.
? Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver patient-centered care.
? Document patient care and progress accurately and in a timely manner.
? Participate in emergency response activities as required.
? The facility operates 24/7/365, and nurses may work day, evening, and night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
? Rotational on-call duties may be required.
What qualifications do you look for?
You might be the Nurse we're looking for if you have:
? A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in emergency, trauma, or primary care settings.
? An active and unrestricted RN license in Virginia.
? Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
? Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
? Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities.
? Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
? The ability to sit for more than 8 hours per day.
? A willingness to work overtime if necessary.
? The ability to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.
? The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and carry up to 10 feet.
? The ability to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
? The ability to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
? The ability to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
? The ability to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment.
? The ability to pass a criminal background investigation and urine drug screening (UDS).
? The ability to pass a Tuberculosis skin test and an up-to-date immunization record.
