Planned Parenthood of Northern New England is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to fill a full time, 37.5 hour per week position is based out of the Manchester, NH, Health Center. This position will provide direct clinical services, as well as various health center support functions related to basic reproductive healthcare, family planning/contraception and abortion; assist in our health center procedural care providing patient support, sedation and recovery services; participate in patient follow up care and referral coordination; and assist with ongoing continuous quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
\n CHARACTERISTIC RESPONSIBILITIESDemonstrate approach to sexual and reproductive health care consistent with Plannedfundamental concepts of reproductive justice.Demonstrates a commitment to recognizing and mitigating unconscious bias in the provision of sexual and reproductive health care.Provide excellent, patient-centered care in collaboration with PPNNE colleagues including licensed and non-licensed staffProvide health care that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to PPNNE patient populationsCounsel/educate patients regarding all services offered by PPNNE including general reproductive health care; all FDA-approved methods of birth control, including emergency contraception; pregnancy options; and other services related to physical and emotional health and wellbeingAdhere to all reporting requirements and state laws relevant to the abuse of minors and relevant to infectious disease reportingTrain other team members on hard skills such as vital signs measurement, IM deltoid injections, IV placement and venipunctureConducts comprehensive medical history interviews and risk assessmentsDispenses and administers medications from the health center formulary in accordance with PPNNE protocolsPerform other relevant duties as assigned Clinical ResponsibilitiesSupport advanced practice clinicians (APCs) in the provision of abortion services to patients: Provide patient education and informed consent for both medication and procedural abortion careAssist during -procedural abortion, including administration and monitoring of analgesia and sedationAssist and observe patients after abortion procedure to determine readiness for dischargeProvide follow-up information to patients after abortion procedures;Assist with coordination of referral to emergency care as indicatedSupport advanced practice clinicians in provision of direct services to contraceptive or general clinic patients through patient education and counseling; pregnancy testing and option counseling; blood testing; screening of potential complications; making appropriate referralsSupport with other procedural care as needed such as vasectomy and colposcopyPerform ultrasound for interpretation by advanced practice clinicianPerform routine lab work including venipuncture and point of care testing Understand the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, templates, and comply with medical documentation practices Clinical Support ResponsibilitiesDocument clearly all outgoing and incoming communications and update EHR to reflect appropriate alerts and next stages in follow up care coordinationTriage incoming patient and pharmacy communications (via telephone and electronic communications), and/or in consultation with APCsAct as care coordinator for high urgency lab results and clinical cases in collaboration with health center staff, Remote Care Team, on-call services, and lab vendorsParticipates in health center operations to facilitate ongoing care of patientsParticipates in sharing on call responsibilities with our clinician pool by taking 4 weeks on-call each year. Call is handled on the phone only and does not require travel to see patients in person after hours. Extra compensation provided for this on call time Support a culture where:Each team member demonstrates flexibility and teamworkEach team member feels empowered to ask questions, think creatively and challenge colleagues in order to be part of a successful teamEach team member takes responsibility for evaluating existing systems, helping to create new systems and influencing decision making as appropriateEach team member listens and contributes to Department and Affiliate discussions and decision making as appropriate QUALIFICATIONS: RN, with Associate's degree in Nursing ( Bachelors degree preferred), plus up to one year of relevant clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquiredBLS certificationBasic clinical knowledge related to outpatient procedural care (abortion, colposcopy, vasectomy)Training/experience in relevant lab techniques (urinalysis, venipuncture, IV placement) and familiarity with aseptic techniqueExcellent EHR skills and ability to navigate multiple digital applications at once including, Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.), and other technologies as needed, or willingness to learnAbility to sit for up to 4 hr. and stand for up to 4 hour a day with regular walking andstoopingAbility to operate all normal office equipmentAbility to travel within PPNNE affiliateStaff providing care remotely must meet the requirements in Policy 340: Flexible Working Arrangements & telecommuting (See PPNNE Personnel Policies) Compensation & BenefitsCompensation for RN positions is commensurate with the number of years since licensure, with the range of pay between $34.86/hr and $50/hr. Access to benefits is available and includes health, dental and vision coverage, paid time off and a retirement fund.
