Overview: Norman Regional Hospital ICU cares for a wide variety of critical patients with complex medical conditions. NRHS ICU team works in collaboration with the dedicated stroke unit to provide award winning advanced stroke care. We maintain a fast pace to meet the needs of those in the most acute phases of cardiac disease. Common cardiac procedures/diagnosis seen in ICU include post open heart surgery, severe decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, STEMI, aortic dissection, and acute severe valvular dysfunction. The ICU also provides care to other critically ill patients- including respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, induced hypothermia, and prolonged intermittent renal replacement therapy. An ICU RN is highly skilled to rapidly assess a patient's condition and intervene with immediate attention as needed. Daily care and responsibilities may include managing various life-support systems including ventilation, heart monitoring, and lifesaving medications.  The ICU RN should show respect, empathy, and exhibit strong communication skills with patients, families, and other health care professionals. The RN should understand and employ patient safety and harm prevention tools.Comprehensive and inclusive training and for new graduate RN. 12 week orientation with a designated preceptor. Responsibilities: RN essential functions include, but are not limited to:Assessment/reassessment - Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriateNursing Diagnosis and Outcomes - Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate.Implementation and Coordination of Care - Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policyEvaluation - Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions.Evaluates discharge needs related to plan of care utilizing resources as needed.Professional Practice  Qualifications: Education Diploma or Associate's degree (ADN) required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferredExperience Previous experience in healthcare field preferredLicensure/CertificationCurrent Oklahoma Registered Nurse license or active Multistate RN licenseBasic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient careCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employmentAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training or retraining is required within 6 months of hireAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required to be maintained through re-training for duration of employmentOther Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesICU RN required classes- to include basic arrhythmia, basic 12 lead, advance 12 lead, hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, basic pacemaker, PIRRT, and Arctic Sun within 12 months of hireICU RN will be required to obtain and maintain critical care competencies as designated by The Joint Commission and/or Nurse ManagerNew grads will be required to complete Vizient/AACN Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program to ensure the best outcome for you during your transition period from school to becoming a professional nurseAll required training and classes are provided by Norman Regional Hospital during employmentCompensation$27.84-$45.46/hr based on previous work experienceBenefits include medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, tuition reimbursement, scholarship opportunities, retirement plans, free parking, and opportunities for advancement$3/hr Night Shift Differential$3/hr Weekend Shift Differential Opportunities for career ladder after one year of employment#NRHSS
