Position Highlights:
20 Pre/Post rooms to admit patients for general surgeries as well as GI, cardiac, and pulmonary procedures. In addition to discharging patients from same day surgeries. Pre/Post nurse patient ratios 1:3-4.
14 PACU bay unit to care for patients of all ages receiving anesthesia. Patient ratios of 1:1-2
Self-scheduling with a variety of 8- and 12-hour shifts available.
Examples of shifts include 0500-1330, 0530-1800, 0700-1530, 9-1730, 0800-2030, and 1130-2000

SUMMARY: The Department of Nursing at Avera McKennan requires all nurses to practice at a competent level of nursing care and demonstrate a competent and professional level of behavior in his/her role as a RN. The American Nurses Associations (ANA) scope and standards of practice are exemplified within the position description. The Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide nursing care for the patient. He/she assumes responsibility and accountability for his/her individual actions and outcomes of patient care delivered on his/her shift.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Graduate from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable.
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota and/or meeting the requirements of multi-state licensure required.
Certification in specialty preferred.
Membership in a professional organization preferred.

Work Schedule
Varied Shifts: Monday-Friday; 72 hours every 2 weeks
every fifth weekend
one to two holidays per year
9 call shifts every 10 weeks, including weekday overnight and weekends
