When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require, they turn to us. Join an expert team of gynecologic oncologists who specialize in the care of patients with cancer of the ovary, uterus, cervix, vagina and vulva.  Our gynecologic oncologists provide comprehensive care to our patients, including performing complex surgery, prescribing chemotherapy and providing supportive care, including survivorship and end of life care. Our gynecologic oncologists work closely with members of the radiation therapy and medical oncology departments to ensure comprehensive care.  We take the team approach to care in order to ensure that all aspects of a woman's health and well-being are addressed. Job Summary:
The RN works closely with physicians and APPs to provide excellent care to patients in a variety of clinical settings. Responsibilities include phone triage (including patient assessment, making plans, communicating with providers, and following up on patients' symptoms and test results) as well as direct patient assessment, and procedures including voiding trials and port draws.  Provides office-based nursing care in collaboration with provider•    Assesses physical and psychosocial needs and environmental factors affecting patients and their families, formulates nursing plan of care and ensures continuity of patient care through appropriate nursing evaluation and intervention•    Support patients and their families through chemotherapy and surgical treatments•    Communicates with provider regarding patient needs, nursing assessments, and recommendations•    Takes direction and initiates actions (cross/additional training) that will allow seamless patient care•    Collects and documents current health status and medical history and assists in scheduling patient office visits•    Reviews patient records, including preoperative records, to ensure completeness and reviews outstanding issues with provider•    Demonstrates independent nursing actions based on assessment and problem identification•    Under direction of provider, calls in prescription medications to pharmacies and observes and documents patient's response to pertinent medications•    Documents accurate and ongoing assessment of patient's needs, problems, capabilities, limitations, progress toward goals, and response to care•    Triages telephone calls and displays ability to initiate appropriate nursing intervention in prompt, precise, and professional manner•    Assists patients and family members or other clients with concern and empathy; respects confidentiality and privacy
Qualifications
Current Connecticut RN License.
Graduate of an accredited nursing school ASN Required, BSN preferred.
BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire. 
One year nursing experience required; previous maternity experience desired.
Experience in Women's Health or postoperative care desired.
