Visit nchjobs.org to learn more.JOB SUMMARYThe RN Stroke Resource Nurse independently plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care in patient care situations using standards of care and policy and procedure. Provides direct nursing care to potential and confirmed stroke patients, assumes teaching and leadership responsibilities. Participates in unit committee and quality improvement activities. Under minimal supervision, the RN Stroke Resource Nurse works directly with patients, families, and all members of the care team during all phases of stroke care ensuring optimal outcomes. The RN Stroke Resource Nurse will stay current with modern trends in care of stroke patients and will be a resource for the community through education and collaboration.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES– Other duties may be assigned. · Responds to Stroke Alerts. Implements the plan of care interventions and medical plan of care as appropriate. · Demonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting. · Integrates evidence and research finding into practice. ·Provides onsite, direct, individualized assistance to and advocated for stroke patients and their families. Assisting Neuro Interventionalist in consenting patients, expediting patients from ER, and often providing direct patient care during the IR procedure.·Assist patients and family in overcoming barriers to care, facilitating timely access to care, and providing education and support throughout the phases of care including what occurs after discharge.·Communicates consistently with providers ensuring seamless plan of care and follow up care (including discharge and 30, 90 day follow up calls).· Serve as active member of Stroke Advisory and Endovascular Advisory Committees; participate in stroke conferences. · Serves as resource to nursing staff throughout organization and aids with stroke related education and quality improvement processes throughout the organization.· Attains knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice. · Involved in quality initiatives, data collection and analysis. · Serve as active member of Stroke Advisory and Endovascular Advisory Committees; participate in stroke conferences. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS· Minimum of Associates Degree Required; BSN preferred.· Minimum of 3 years clinical experience. · Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Florida.· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.· Certification in Stroke Nursing or achieved within 1 year of hire based on eligibility requirements set by governing agency.· Experienced with adult learning and teaching.· Requires on-call schedule, in collaboration with other Stroke Team members.· Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
