The RRT will provide under medical direction, the assessment, treatment, management, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardio-pulmonary system. The RRT performs these functions primarily in critical care areas in addition to other wards. The respiratory therapist assumes primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, including assisting in the orientation of new Respiratory Therapist. Initiates and conducts therapeutic procedures, maintain patient records, and selects, assembles, checks, and operates equipment.
