Overview:
TheReliability Technicianensures the safety, reliability, and compliance of fixed equipment for the St.
James's facility. Responsibilities include conducting thorough inspections, audits, and assessments to
verify adherence to API standards, industry regulations, and best industry practices. By maintaining
detailed documentation and identifying potential hazards, the Reliability Technician plays a critical role
in safeguarding fixed equipment reliability and promoting a culture of anticipation.
The Reliability Technician provides technical support for the fixed equipment mechanical integrity
programs governed by API 510, 570, and 653. Also, plays a key role in complying with the RBI 581
standard and maintaining an effective RBI program.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ensures proper completion of internal and external compliance inspections on fixedassets.Conductall Internal and External API 653 Tank Inspections, and Visual External Inspections on Hoses, Sight Glasses, Piping, Expansions Joints, Flames Arrestors, and Clamps.
Monitor and Maintain APM Dashboards and Database to make sure the St James facility is in Compliance.
Develop inspection reports and input all inspection data into APM and associated databases (Internal/External Inspection Reports, UT Thickness Data, etc.). Review and maintain documentation and inspection records in IDMS (APM) for completion and accuracy.
Work with the Fixed Equipment Engineering on conducting Failure Analysis on Equipment that has failed in service. Involve SMEs for highly critical equipment.
Conduct Internal and External Inspections on all Boilers and ensure compliance with State inspections. Recommend operational discipline actions to maintain the boiler's reliability.
Develop and maintain inspection records and files for heaters, boilers, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, pressure relieving devices, and miscellaneous equipment
Conduct PT, VT, and UT on equipment and piping as needed.
Conduct shop surveillance on new equipment being fabricated. Support the development of QA/QC plans for fixed equipment-related capital projects.
Coordinate Inspection projects requiring the use of NDE vendors. Inspection and testing projects requiring the use of outside firms include relief valve testing and inspection, equipment testing, acoustic emissions, x-ray inspections, eddy current tube thickness testing, remote video inspection, and shear wave UT flaw detection.
Coordinate the CUI/RBI inspection projects requiring the use of NDE vendors conducting inspections on piping and equipment. Determine the scope of the project based on risk. Add inspection effectiveness in APM as part of the RBI data collection.
Responsible for coordinating DEQ-regulated equipment inspections.
Provide technical input as required for welding and metallurgical issues.
Perform calculations of remaining life and corrosion rates. Ensure thickness data is updated for all equipment in APM. With the Fixed Equipment engineer identify assets reaching the end of life and take proactive action.
Manage construction and maintenance contractors to ensure Quality Control, knowledgeable of non-destructive examination methods.
Help progress with Turnaround planning. Ensure the inspection plan is fully RBI. Use lessons learned from previous turnarounds for planning and execution of inspections.
Update and maintain critical exchangers for EOL assessments. Define a replacement plan and communicate it to the SR. LT. and work with the technical group on updating the capital plan accordingly.
Support Capital and Operations group for fixed-equipment inspection needs.
Support and continue implementation of new asset integrity work process and close gaps on APM remaining life calculation functionality.
Conduct and assist with Root Cause Investigation for fixed equipment. Support MOCs for fixed equipment
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Job Requirements:
A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Five (5) years of chemical plant/refinery experience with a specific emphasis on Mechanical Integrity inspections.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and knowledge of SAP and APM
Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership

Desired Skills:
Proficient with ASME, TEMA, and API codes and standards.
API 510 & 570 certification required. API 653 certification is a plus.
Certifications in NDT methods (MT/PT/UTT) are a plus
