Remote Full-Time Maine Consumer Debt Defense Attorney

Huron Law Group is an established national debt defense law firm focused on providing cost-effective legal representation to consumers. Our firm is currently seeking a remote part-time attorney, licensed in the state of Maine, to oversee debt settlement files and provide limited-scope legal assistance or formal representation to clients involved in debt collection lawsuits. Responsibilities will include providing limited-scope assistance, including client consultations, settlement oversight, and review/approval of pro se answer drafts prepared by the firm's paralegals. For clients engaging the firm in a broader capacity, responsibilities will also include providing formal representation until the case has been settled. This position will rarely require complex litigation and/or attendance at final hearings, as clients are enrolled in a debt settlement program, and desire to settle the cases through voluntary payment arrangements with the creditors. Where in-person attendance at a hearing becomes necessary, the attorney will have the option of attending or asking the firm to secure local coverage counsel. This position is fully remote, enabling the attorney to telecommute from any location. Annual salary starts at and includes payment of bar membership and continuing legal education. Qualifications: - Licensed and in good standing with the Maine Bar Association - At least 3 years of prior civil litigation experience - Experience in consumer debt defense and/or collections preferred Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $80,000.00 per year Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Schedule: 8 hour shift No nights No weekends Experience: debtor / creditor: 2 years (Preferred) civil litigation: 3 years (Preferred) License/Certification: license to practice law in the state of Maine (Required) Location: Maine (Required) Work Location: Remote
